Some men just can't stop lying. I had one who also pulled the "my phone doesn't get reception" lie. Strange, the phone always worked when he wanted something from me (i.e. SEX). But it never worked the other way around - unless it was convenient for him.

Run, Run, Run, Run.
My soon-to-be-ex also said "I love you" and never showed it. 2 years of dating and 12 years of marriage later -- and he still can't show it. Shrink says he is incapable. No hope.
My instincts said RUN when I was dating but I didn't listen. Now I am paying the price.

Just a quick update: We just passed the 10 month mark and are happier than ever.
The best thing I did was a) become confident in myself and realize I was worth a decent man and b) date myself. Oh ... and not call him right away. He was desperate to hear from me and it drove him crazy that I made him make all the first moves.
