I had a really strange dream last night, I don't remember them too often. When I have one like this it makes me wonder if there is any meaning behind it.
I'm inclined to believe dreams must come from some thought that passed through my mind at some point, I can't find the connection though.
Does anyone here interpret dreams? Or have you had yours interpreted?
I think garden-variety dreams simply work in puns as symbols. For instance I remember having a "dream" while under a general anesthetic during an operation. Apparently some nurse said "she's lyin' on the table". I unconsciously heard this and had a dream about a lion on a table
whatif...please tell us about your dream...if you dare! ;)
lol its not x rated. I sent this to the dream site Aud suggested, haven't heard anything back. Here it is:
I was sitting on the sofa of my ex live in boyfriend's apartment when I received a certified letter requiring I attend a formal meeting. I vaguely remember understanding that this meeting was an inquest of sorts regarding some type of terrorist activity that I had witnessed.
I am standing in the back of a large conference room on a top floor of a very tall building. There are floor to ceiling windows on every side. Everyone is in formal business attire. The square conference table in the middle of the floor is full and there are several of us standing in the back of the room. I do not recall any particular person in the room, or what was being said.
At the sound of extremely loud airplane engines all talk ceases and everyone looks to the sky. A few stories below us there is a small, odd shaped plane making slow circles. The plane then looks up and faces us as we watch.
The plane almost looks to have a face. Small eyes and 2 symmetrical tentacles which stick straight out from its face. The place flies upward and hovers level to the window through which we are watching, and seems to look back at us for several seconds.
It then races toward the window and pierces it with its tentacles. It does this 3 times, then flies to the floor below us and does the same. It repeats this action at each floor, heading downward.
After a few seconds of shocked silence, everyone begins to rush toward the exit. This is when I woke.
OK, here goes... (I know I'm in for it!)
My nightmares, when I have them, are of BOB HOPE.
There I've said it. Ugh!
Auds
What exactly about Bob Hope? What have YOU got against Bob Hope Audrey? Why does he weird you out so?
Is it his caustic sarcasm? What scares you so?
That's ok. My nightmares are about grammatical things. Yipes!
Note: My horrorscope says I will be having very vivid dreams the next few nights. I'll keep you all posted.
It probably isn't so cryptic. Do you think it is your subconcious mind trying to work out some kind of problem in symbols only you can understand?
Whatly,
Def. smells of 911 anniversary doesn't it?
Could thetababe's pun be "plain" for plane?
From www.dreammoods.com
To see an airplane in your dream, indicates that you will overcome your obstacles and rise to a new level of prominence and status. You may experience a higher consciousness, new-found freedom and greater awareness.
To dream that a plane crashes, suggests that you have set overly high and unrealistic goals for yourself. Your goals may be too high and are impossible to realize. You are in danger of having it come crashing down.
But your "plane" is aggressively attacking you! THREE times. And it has whiskers!
To see or have whiskers in your dream, indicates that you are still trying to feel out some situation.
Three signifies life, vitality, inner strength, completion, imagination, creativity, energy, and self-exploration. Three stands for trilogy as in the past, present, and future or father, mother, and child, etc.
To see shattered and broken windows, represents your distorted view and outlook on life. It is also indicates a state of vulnerability.
Very strange dream, whatly! A overly agressive, dangerous airplane with a face and whiskers bent on breaking your windows. Hmmmm.
Let us know what you get back!

I remember few dreams but when I do they generally turn out to be predictions. One vivid one I had told the girls at work about.
I dreamt of standing on a balcony high up a block of flats. I was having a drink and looking at the view of the many high rise buildings. Then a plane appeared from nowhere and crashed into one of the buildings close by,then another plane crashed. I saw flames and smoke and I then woke in tears.2 weeks later the tragic 9/11 was on world news.
Someone gave me a *dreamcatcher* for my bedroom after that one.
I was thinking 911 too, and we have been talking about it lately on some different threads because of the anniversary being so recent. But the ex bf...hmmmm are we still haveing feelings for him?
No feelings there Darlin', that's the one I was allowing to cater to me and pamper me....
SZ that's really interesting, considering I'm in the middle of a job search with no idea yet which direction I'll go...do I want to continue fast-track, VP role with all the travel and incorporation into personal time...or at this point in my life is the ambition and drive pacified enough to enjoy a Director level role that will be less draining and provide more free time....not sure.
Also where to live...best roles are generally Northeast (not gonna go there!!!), Chicago (was there 5 years in the mid 90's, great town, tons of fun, brrrr!!!} or Atlanta (approximately 10 years there and still many ties). Or further south and diappear on the beach somewhere?
And yes, my expectations of and demands on myself are generally unreachable, always stretching.
This is the only piece I can't figure out if it relates: "To see shattered and broken windows, represents your distorted view and outlook on life. It is also indicates a state of vulnerability"...I see the vulnerability piece, hopefully no distorted views here.
I doubt there is any 911 significance, other than we are now bombarded with the word terrorism, regardless of whether it applies. Perhaps that's how my brain now views danger.
My only personal tie to 9/11/2001 is that is my ex's offical retirement date from the Navy. He'd taken terminal leave several months before, so we were very concerned he would get called back and sent overseas.
Interesting, I always have three's:
Three signifies life, vitality, inner strength, completion, imagination, creativity, energy, and self-exploration. Three stands for trilogy as in the past, present, and future or father, mother, and child, etc.
WHATIF: I SEE "Director level role that will be less draining and provide more free time....!!! It's clear to me:))))

Isn't thinking from a position of vulnerability a distorted outlook on life? I know I think different thoughts completely depending upon whether I'm feeling vulnerable and insecure or self confident and on top of things. I think that is was DWD is all about!
Just a thought.
Here's the interpretation from the site Aud recommended. To me SZ's made more sense. I'm not sure who this interpretation would be referring to, I need to give it more thought.

This dream shows you are concerned that people are becoming jealous of you. You are worried that someone wants to take you down from your pedestal.
The certified letter means that you feel you don't have a choice other than to face this person's unfair accusations.
The tall building represents the heights you have ascended to -- all you have accomplished. The formal attire means you always are very careful to do the right thing and follow protocol. The airplane is at a lower floor, which means that the person who is against you is beneath you in status or attitude. The face looking at you means that you can sense that you are being watched and scrutinized. Tentacles are also called "feelers", which means this person is putting out feelers to see if they can discover some dirt on you.
It goes down the floors one by one, because they are digging deeper and deeper into your past and previous history.
The dreams sometime can happen in real life.. but dreams mostly just tell you something..
Funny thing, I see the real pictures in my head, not my dreams and it shows me the things will happen in the future.. I usually don't believe in it would happen but it does happen when it approachs on that day.
It seems scary to me and I even try to change my future path but I couldn't beat it. I know it sounds crazy, is it?
Here is the dreams thread, Smarts!

Hey whatif714
Can't really answer your question but I do believe that if we remember a dream it's often for a reason. Some people seem to go through phases of remembering dreams when they're sick - I think the mind going a bit crazy is a side-effect of the body trying to fight an infection or whatever. Likewise at times of stress.
There are some 'symbols' in dreams that seem to be universally accepted to mean something. For example, dreaming about death does not necessarily mean death but more often than not it's warning of the end of something - or the fear of the end of something (if that makes sense).
I've got a couple of dream dictionaries but am not too sure about them; I think that other than the 'big' symbols as in the example above, different things have different meanings depending on the individual.
Example: I often have yellow school buses (of all things!) appear in 'good' dreams (yeah I know it's crazy!). I'm convinced this stems from a really good vacation I once had in the USA when the first thing I remember seeing outside the airport was a yellow school bus. So for me I guess that means that yellow school buses are a good omen because they are associated with good times. But another person might have had a really bad time as as kid an associate yellow school buses with bullying so for them a yellow school bus in a dream could be a warning.
Does that make sense?
