Success...he called! And let me tell you about the NY accent...
If you read my Valentine's Day post, you might recall I mentioned a certain special someone who sent me a certain special Valentine's greeting via text. It remained to be seen whether we'd actually have a conversation and book a date, but good news: he called. And you'll never guess where he was when he did it.
Vegas. At a bachelor party.
Now, this could either be a very good line that he fed me or he might actually have stepped away from his party in Vegas long enough to call me. I'm going to think positive and believe that he thought it important enough to take a few minutes away from Black Jack and whatever other activities might have been ensuing to give me a jingle.
And I, of course, was thinking, "Oh, that's so sweet."
Here's the history behind this guy, and you might think this is cute, too. Or, again, a really good line.
We met through his friend, who has an account on the online dating site that I joined. His friend emailed me to tell me not that HE was interested, but that his friend to whom he had shown my profile was interested, and that he thought the two of us would hit if off.
A little out of the ordinary, to say the least. But again, here's me: "Oh, how sweet."
So after a few days of texting and emailing, when I finally got to hear his voice last night, the New York accent topped it off. And funnily enough, I was in the middle of watching Rocky Balboa (OK, I THOUGHT I was renting Rocky, the first one, from Netflix but turns out, I clicked the wrong button. But I digress), and somehow, the two personalities and voices seemed to mimic each other.
I know, you're probably thinking that this guy has a lot of good lines up his sleeve. And you could be right. But in a world where cynicism prevails and no one ever hears the story about looking across the crowded room anymore, somehow this guy has caught my attention by the mere fact that he saw something in me and decided to act on it, albeit across a crowded cyberspace instead.
We're supposed to grab a bite to eat tomorrow night, and I'm feeling a little giddy with excitement. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but then again, why not? Why not think that this one could work out, that we could hit it off?
And if it doesn't, that's OK, too. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Hopefully, he'll have more to say than "Yo, Adrian!"
